Program Information:
Exploring the Intersection of Shame, Substance Use and LGBT Identity Development 1 CE
This presentation addresses the critical need to distinguish between shame and guilt, particularly within the context of substance use and LGBT identity development. Participants will gain insights into how these emotional experiences influence substance use behaviors among LGBT individuals. The program will draw from Brene Brown's Shame Resilience Theory and recent empirical studies to explore the nuanced relationships between shame-proneness, guilt- proneness, and substance use. The presentation will include a combination of lecture, case study analysis, and group discussion to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the material.
Presented by: Jonathan Rea
